Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG)

Short Description
A sensitive and empowering masterclass exploring the complexities of violence against women and girls.
Through real-world examples, reflective exercises and trauma-informed practice, learners will develop confidence in responding to victims, understanding risk, and navigating safeguarding pathways.
The session promotes professional curiosity, cultural awareness and survivor-centred intervention.
Aim
To build professional competence in recognising, responding to and supporting victims affected by violence against women and girls, including domestic abuse, sexual violence, coercive control, harmful practices and modern forms of gender-based harm.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will be able to:
- Understand the scope, drivers and impact of VAWG on individuals, families and communities.
- Recognise indicators of coercive control, sexual violence and harmful traditional practices.
- Respond safely and trauma-informed to disclosures.
- Identify referral pathways and intervention approaches (statutory & community-based).
- Increase professional confidence when challenging minimisation normalisation or victim-blaming narratives.
Cancellation Charge
Please note that with effect from 1st November we will be introducing a cancellation charge of £75. This will apply to cancellations that take place 48hours or less before the start of the course or if you book a place but do not attend.
