Safeguarding Babies and Very Young Children

Short Description
This specialist session focuses on safeguarding the youngest and most vulnerable children.
Through case examples, red-flag indicators and developmental vulnerability analysis, the session will strengthen practitioner judgement and intervention planning.
Participants will gain practical strategies for assessment, communication, recording and escalation where a baby’s safety, wellbeing or development may be at risk.
Aim
To deepen practitioner understanding of the heightened vulnerability and unique safeguarding needs of babies and pre-verbal children, with a focus on risk identification, early help, and protective intervention.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will be able to:
- Recognise specific risk factors affecting infants and pre-verbal children.
- Identify early signs of neglect, developmental concerns and non-accidental injury.
- Understand parental vulnerabilities, attachment concerns and disguised compliance.
- Confidently record and escalate concerns with a focus on early protection.
Contribute to multi-agency assessment and planning with baby-centred practice.
Cancellation Charge

This will apply to cancellations that take place 48 hours or less before the start of the course or if you book a place but do not attend.
